Every listing shows its cancellation policy before you book. This page explains what each policy refunds and how cancellations are handled by guests and hosts.
Guest cancellation policies
Hosts choose one of three policies for each listing. The policy that applies is shown at checkout and on your booking, and it does not change after you book.
Flexible
- Full refund of the nightly total if you cancel at least 24 hours before check-in.
- No refund of the nightly total after that point.
Moderate
- Full refund of the nightly total if you cancel at least 5 days before check-in.
- 50% of the nightly total if you cancel between 5 days and 24 hours before check-in.
- No refund of the nightly total inside 24 hours.
Strict
- 50% of the nightly total if you cancel at least 7 days before check-in.
- No refund of the nightly total after that point.
Cleaning fees and taxes
Cleaning fees and taxes are returned in full whenever a booking is cancelled before check-in, whatever the policy on the listing.
Host cancellations
Hosts are expected to honour confirmed bookings. When a host cancels, we refund the guest in full and review the listing. Repeated host cancellations can affect a listing's standing on the platform.
Force majeure
If a booking is affected by an event beyond either party's control (a natural disaster, a government travel restriction, or a serious safety incident), you can ask us to review it. Send supporting evidence and our team will look at the booking case by case.
How to cancel
Open the booking in your account, choose Cancel booking, and select a reason. You will see the refund amount before you confirm. Approved refunds are returned to the payment method you used; how quickly the money appears depends on your bank or card issuer.
